Angel is a senior executive at Frito-Lay in Texas. He is the Group Vice President, HR, for Frito-Lay North America Sales and Operations. He is responsible for more than 43,000 employees.
Angel joined Pepsi Cola in 1993 as HR Manager in Houston, Texas. In 1997, he moved to Pepsi’s World Headquarters in Somers, NY as Sr. HR Manager. From 1997 to 2000 he served as HR Director for Frito-Lay’s South Texas Region in San Antonio, Texas.
In 2000, he was promoted to VP – Staffing and Diversity of Frito-Lay North America. In 2002, he became the HRVP for FLNA’s Western Operations. In 2004, he assumed the role of VP, HR for Frito-Lay Operations where he supported 32 plants and 22,000 employees.
In November 2008, he became Group VP HR, FLNA Sales & Operations with accountability for the People Agenda for 43,000 employees around the United States.
Angel has served on several non-profit boards - as the chair emeritus of the Corporate Advisory Board for the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s, as co-chair for the Harvard/HACR Alumnae network, and as a Board Member for Texas Lyceum. He is a founding member of Frito-Lay’s Latino Leadership Organization, ADELANTE and the HR sponsor for Enable, the network for people with different abilities and RISE, the Native American network. Angel is an Eagle Scout as well as a former board member for the Girl Scouts of the USA.
He and his wife, Connie, have two sons.
